About a month ago I used a Samba Howto document by Swerdna to make my Home LAN effective. Since then I have had to rebuild my computer and am back at the point of not understanding how to see and be seen by the Windows systems on my Home LAN. I cannot now find this document anywhere in this forum. Did I imagine it, or what?
me being lazy ( & getting on a bit ) didn’t search, but, here’s swerdna’s site Linux HOWTOs and Tutorials: Suse Linux 10.0, 10.1 openSUSE 10.2, 10.3, 11.0 have a look through it. & here’s the official Samba page The Official Samba 3.2.x HOWTO and Reference Guide

If you installed the samba doc rpm it should be in:
/usr/share/doc/packages/samba

I have now installed this package. It does not contain the Howto by Swerdna.

Great. Thanks for this.
Swerdna’s document ‘linhowtolanprimer’ ends with the statement “Hope this Tutorial makes life a bit easier for you”
I’d like to say that it does far, far more than that. There is just no way I could have found my way through a Linux-Windows workgroup set up without this guide. It is indispensable, like a lot of good things from Queensland!
Grateful thanks, Swerdna.
Cool, Glad you are sorted, now enjoy
