I’m experiencing some problems with my installed RT2500 pci, it works and is connected. However it is nowhere near the speeds I should be seeing on my PC, under Windows I get at least 8 mbps down, but on OpenSUSE 11.4 I struggle to break 1mbps.
I’ve not used OpenSUSE for quite some time but have just come back to the Gecko thanks to Ubuntu’s terrible Unity, and SUSE’s ease of use getting Gnome 3 running.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, any output from commands needed please ask and I will be prompt.
I am nether very experienced with informatics in general nor wireless drivers nor have myself a PCI wlan device like you (probably one from Ralink).
But I guess the probability that you will get real help from the cracks (or even from a kernel developer) or someone with the same device could be increased if you would read the stickies above
like: My wireless doesn’t work - a primer on what I should do next
and post your according results here
(best between
and
).
Example given I guess you could be more sure to identify your wireless device correctly with the (hexadecimal) numeric ID by open a terminal emulator (konsole, GNOME terminal, …)
/sbin/lspci -nnk
and use your mouse to copy and paste the section according to your wireless device here. It shall contain a numeric ID like [1814:0201].
Wish you to have luck and simultaneously/at least after that
a lot of fun
