Hello. I’ve installed open Suse 11 on an Ibm thinkpad z60m. I’m in the net by a adsl wireless connection to a netgear router. Now the problem: in windows Xp everything flows as usual, not in Suse. There the connection is very slow (4k at sec. vs 70-80k at sec. in windows).
You may want to use the Search feature on forums.novell.com and check
out the following posts:
‘incredibly slow internet connection’
‘Internet slow (newbie to Suse)’
‘Very slow internet speed in suse 11.0’
‘Slow Internet’
among others.
Good luck.

Feel free to post back what your solution was… the more people who
report the same issue the better the chance it will be resolved in the
next release. In the meantime thank-you for posting back.
Good luck.

I found a solution that worked fo me. I have been experiencing the same problem and finally took the time today to search for a fix. Tried all the suggested ipv6 related stuff, but none of that speeded up my browsing. Also tried net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 0 on /etc/sysctl.conf and then=> sysctl -p, but that did not help either.
For me the problem was related to resolving dns and what did the trick was in disabling my own routers ip on the /etc/resolv.conf as nickname r4ik suggested in the ubuntuforums: Internet DNS Still Slow! - Ubuntu Forums
As SU -> gedit /etc/resolv.conf commented out my router -> worked instantly.
Interesting change… you may want to investigate your router a bit to
see if its DNS is working. It could also be something in the
relationship between that machine and your own box though
troubleshooting that may take some time. Either way, sounds like you
have found it. Thank-you for posting back.
Good luck.
