I can not open that link, but it seems to be about outlook or microsoft.
Have you noticed that this is a Linux forum, not a Windows forum?

If that is not the case, post a photo at susepaste.org.

Please download the image, then go to SUSE Paste , click “image”, upload the image. A blue text will be displayed above the image, copy that line and post it here

SUSE Paste

Hi Chris,

The image is very small, the text is almost unreadable. From what I can see, part of it it reads

fsck failed for at least one filesystem, (not \)

You are asked to repair it manually. For your explanation, on boot the system checks the file systems. The program used is fsck. Your blackout seems to have damaged the a part of file system that needs to be mounted to run openSUSE.
You will need to provide the info in a better resolution. People here should then be able to help you.

SUSE Paste

hopefully this is a better picture

You have to enter the root password to continue. If you don’t know that (it should be the same as your user password on a default installation) or it doesn’t work for some reason, add “init=/bin/sh” to the boot options:
At the boot menu (where you can choose between openSUSE, Advanced Options, and Windows if installed) press ‘e’ on the keyboard, search for a line starting with “linux” and append “init=/bin/sh” to the end of it. Then press the ‘F10’ key to boot. You should get to a text mode console then without the need for a password.

Then run a filesystem check as already hinted:

fsck -y /dev/disk/by-label/bigdisk

If you get an error message, please post it again. But make sure it is completely readable on the picture, your last one has important parts cut off…

Once i turn the machine on it goes to the following page

SUSE Paste

Im unsure of when to press ‘e’ in order to find the line starting with ‘linux’.

As much detail would be brilliant, thanks

This is not grub2, most likely grub legacy. Just add additional kernel options on Boot Options line.

I dont understand what you mean by that, sorry

With your boot menu you don’t have to press ‘e’.
Just enter “init=/bin/sh” (it should appear at the Boot Options line) and press the return key.

I managed to do that and then when it stopped coming up with any more writing on the screen i added the line that was previously suggested to me and then got as follows.

http://paste.opensuse.org/58754218

What should I now do?

You forgot to enter the spaces. The line should look exactly like this:

fsck -y /dev/disk/by-label/bigdisk

i have done that now and updated the photo

SUSE Paste

unfortunately it is still coming up with an error message

Well, sorry to say, but that doesn’t look too good.
Apparently your hard disk is physically damaged. Notice all those "media error"s and “Unrecovered read error”?

You could try to run this:

fsck.ext3 -cy /dev/sdd5

If you’re lucky, this would repair it good enough to be mounted again.

this now comes up

SUSE Paste

any more suggestions?

Well, what did that partition contain?

Depending on that you could maybe just remove it from /etc/fstab and get your system to boot. If it was your home partition, you should still be able to login as root.
You could then try to recover some data using utilities like “testdisk” if needed.
And run “smartctl -a /dev/sdd” to check the health of the disk.

Anyway, you should probably replace that disk with a new one.

I dont really understand any of that unfortunately because like i said im not really a computer expert it was more my dad who sadly passed away and was all running fine until this power cut we had so not sure what to do now really.
