Is there some good way or Gnome extension to have wallpaper slideshow on Gnome 3, just like KDE’s slideshow?
If not, do you think it could be in the upcoming Gnome 3 shipping with openSUSE 13.2?
I read about BackSlide, but seems no longer maintained…

I already tried Variety with its dependencies when I had GNOME 3.2 (I think it was openSUSE 12.1 back then). IIRC there were some Variety packages for 12.1 in the repos back then, otherwise I wouldn’t remember where I got it from.
But I remember it didn’t work at all. I opened the configuration window and I was able to do absolutely nothing: blank, no option was usable.
In fact I tried several wallpaper changers, and the only one that I remember worked was a xml script named “xml background creator”. But it’s no longer developed (or so it seems).
Unless you or someone else could assure times changed indeed…
Or could be that the guy who tested Variety in the article uses Fedora instead of openSUSE… I couldn’t find any recent screenshots or videos of Variety on GNOME in openSUSE…
