slab and recent applications & documents

Hello all !

First i’m a french user so i’m sorry for my bad english.

My question is simple: I would like to know how i can remove the recent documents and the recent applications in slab (to keep only the favorite ones) ?

Is it possible ??

Thanx !!

No one knows ?

i_sec,
1st welcome to the Opensuse forums.
Now to clear recent Documents & Apps try this:
1.go to kmenu
2.look for a tab at the bottom recently used
3.right click any item you’ll see a context menu that’ll have
Clear recent Douments
Clear recent Applications
4.Select one right click done!
Your favorites will be unaffected.

Hello Sagemta.
Thank you for your answer. But i forgot to say that i have gnome and not kde.
And when i am in slap menu, i see recent apps ant recent documents. When i right click on them, i see a context menu with just :
-open
-rename
-send to
-add to favorite
-put in trash.

if i choose the last option, nothing occurs.

So i don’t know how i can remove recent apss & doc.

Open nautilus
click View>show hidden files
delete .recently_used.xml in your home folder (the actual file may be different, I am not at my computer to verify but it should be something similar that you will recognize)

Hello JoeC21 !

Your advice is very good !!! but the filename is .recently_used.xbel

but all my recent documents and apps disapear !!

Thank you so much !!!

Hi everyone.

I am wondering the same question. I really do not like slab remembering all of my previously used documents. I’d like to just remove the tab all together, if possible.

When I delete the .recently_used.xml file, the gets rid of the tab but, as soon as I open up any type of document, the file gets restored with the default settings. Is there a way to prevent the auto restore or a more simple way of customising slab?

Bump

Come on. Someone is bound to know the answer to this question

Hi
It’s better to start your own thread if you have an issue rather than
tack on to an existing users problem.

If you run the gconf-editor and browse to desktop->applications->main
menu->lock-down. There is a setting called “showable file types” with a
default setting of [0,1,2,3,4,5], double click on it and delete the
entries 1,3 and 5, press ok and exit.

I have the same problem. Only way to really clear Recent Documents in the slab is to right click on the panel then Add to Panel the Traditional Gnome Menu or Menu Bar and select Places->Recent Documents->Clear Recent Documents. Then I remove the Menu Bar from the panel. This works but is awkward and we should be able to do this within the slab.

I’ve looked in almost every menu I can find for where the info is stored. Also, trying to figure out the script and where it is that Clear Recent Documents runs. Any ideas?

Ooops! Busy Penguin solved the problem while I was typing my original post. Thank you–it worked.

Hi
gconf-editor = linux version of regedit
