Skype takes over

Two computers on the same Internet connection.

Computer 1 AMD Athlon II X4 630, 2 Gigabytes memory openSUSE 12.3 32 bit KDE. When Skype connects CPU usage for Skype and pulseaudio rises to a combined 80% approximately.

Computer 2 AMD Athlon 1640B, 2 Gigabytes memory openSUSE 12.3 64 bit KDE. When Skype connects CPU usage for Skype and pulseaudio rises to a combined 45% approximately.

Changing Skype versions does not seem to change the above results. Isn’t this excessive for a single application? Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks for any suggestions.

Just checked here Skype 4.1.0.20 uses about 18% Athlon 3200+ Still on 12.3

idling it uses about 1% and during a call about 7% cpu
