I installed Skype from the software.opensuse.org one-click skype.ymp. I get no sound. Skype Options>Sound Devices shows “Virtual Device” in the Microphone, Speakers and Ringing fields with no other choices. Sound works in other applications.

Skype does work on LEAP-42.1 GM version. I’ve tested it on an old PC.
On the LEAP system I followed the installation method in the wiki (for 13.1) noted by alanbortu.
Further, since Skype now uses pulse audio, did you try launching ‘pavucontrol’ to ensure that Skype’s output is being sent to the correct audio output device ?
.
I did not use the https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Skype#Installing_Skype link as it did not mention LEAP 42.1. The link I used was specifically for 42.1 so I followed it. As for pavucontrol it does not function, presenting me with an empty startup screen.
So now I will start again using the above link as suggested, making sure that pulseaudio is running.

If you find that it works/need other steps please do add to the wiki for
42.1
The wiki works as is for 13.2 and 42.1. I’ve used this method for a number of different PCs.
Its been years < gulp > since I last updated a wiki - but I made some small changes to the wiki to note what I stated above. Hopefully its understandable and compliant with the rather tight wiki editing guidelines that are now in place.
