I’m a Xubuntu refugee, & loving it sofar! Most issues are simple configuration tweaks & unfamiliarity with KDE itself, I am muddling through for the most part OK. However Skype downloaded & packaged for 12.1 (?) cannot make a basic test call, falling over with no sound. I can hear sound with YouTube. Anyone come across this? I have tried selecting different sound sources from within Skype options itself, but no joy.
I recommend you install the app ‘pavucontrol’ and then follow what I have in my blog for skype: https://forums.opensuse.org/blogs/oldcpu/pulseaudio-basics-opensuse-pavucontrol-96/
**For 64-bit installation of openSUSE 12.2 (implicates 12.3)
You will need the corresponding *-32bit RPM packages, since skype is only offered in 32-bit. The Skype rpm from skype.com depends on these so it will install them automatically. However, on most openSUSE systems pulseaudio is used and this is not a hard dependency so you will need to install this to get sound.
