I’ve follewed the instructions on: SDB:Skype - openSUSE and installed Skype. Although I do hear the lady from the test call, she can’t hear me. EnvyControl settings registers input from the mic, though Skype isn’t recording anything. Within Skype the options with sound all state that since I’m using PulseAudio, Skype doesn’t provide settings to adjust.
Regarding the sound this is a fresh install in which I haven’t been playing around with settings, because everything seemed to work fine, except for the microphone.
With 11.4 I had the option of selecting a recording device, though that option is no longer there in Gnome3 with pulse. The recording device used to be alsa and than it would work… Audacity isn’t recording my sound either.
If I read this correct, you are able to record audio with your mic.
I recommend you install the application pulse audio volume control (pavucontrol) if it is not already installed, and run that application at the same time in which you run Skype. And then while you try the Skype Test Service, tune your mic with pavucontrol. In the Configuration tab ensure you choose a configuration that includes your Mic. In the Input Devices Tab ensure SHOW is set to ‘all input devices’ and that your mic is NOT muted, and in the RECORDING tab ensure SHOW is set to ‘all input streams’ and that you have the appropriate configuration selected (with the capture levels moved up).
