Skype 64-bit

Update to 4.8, also installed the “skype-deps - Runtime Dependencies for Skype” and still can’t get the video to work. Tested with “Cheese” and video is working. But, one thing I did notice in the “Software Manager” is in the “Install (Available)” column the version number is in “red” font. What does this mean? The version does say “2.2.0.35-suse111”, but on Skype it gives the indication its for 11+

Any suggesting?

The Red colour to the package means:

The package does not have a provider (That could mean you installed it manually and it’s not in any repos either)

OR

If it’s in one of your repos, the version you have installed is newer than the version available (In other words it’s a roll back as opposed to an update)

Yea, this is a manually installed from Skype, is there one in the repo’s that works for 12.1, I can’t seem to find one so far? I don’t know what happen from switching from Gnome to KDE, but the one from Skype did work in Gnome.

I’m using the 32 bit rpm from skype in my 64 bit kde on 12.1 with the 32 bit dependencies.

There are some repos if you search users home
software.opensuse.org: Search Results

Some of them have _64 builds
I have not tested them

OK thanks!.. looks like I might do a re-install, because it looks like I have done something to cause skype to not work on the video side…,

…on a side note, are you using the open source video driver?

I use skype on a Laptop, with Intel graphics. Drivers are built in.

Didn’t quite understand, are you using the drivers from the nVidia site and compiled them in or the default open source driver from openSuSe suppose to have them already built in?

No nvidia at all, it’s Intel

Anyway, didn’t I read earlier. You have skype video in Gnome 3? Was that using the nvidia driver?

No, still was using the default open source driver from openSuSe…, but will try to install it though.
