Note to oppenSUSE Thunderbird and SeaMonkey maintainers. Thunderbird 24.5.0 is out and SeaMonkey 2.26 should be released today.
I know I could use the Mozilla repo, but I shouldn’t have to for general releases.
I have been told previously that they only show up in the Update repo if there are security fixes. Well, each new version does have security fixes.

Yes, and then the maintainers have to determine what fixes are
necessary and then backport the fixes (as in create patches) into the
current release…
Some things are under embargo as well, so may be sitting in a fixed
state waiting for it to become public…

How long it will take until they appear in the update repo depends on the Maintenance team and whether there are any problems (with building f.e.).

Patches were pulled from upstream and added for arm 64 builds as well, plus rebasing and adding a build failure patch, this all takes time.

@rafter22 Remember that most if not all the work is done by volunteers, sometimes other things take prority… such is life…
Last week for example, there was a hardware failure on OBS and the SAN storage which wasn’t expected to be fixed until Friday (it was actually fixed later the same day), so I went off to find other stuff to do instead of looking to update, build on OBS for some of my stuff.
Another example a factory rebuild will push maintenace updates and all other building back down the queue.
Well, I didn’t say that there is no work involved in preparing the update.
But in the case of Firefox, SeaMonkey, and Thunderbird, the new version is released as update, the fixes are not backported to the old version.
I am not as fond of Mozilla as I used to be and prefer to use Chrome. As far as email clients go, Claws Mail or Evolution are excellent choices…
