Normally I have double-clicked to open items on my desktop in KDE. Now with 42.1 a single-click opens items. How do I go back to the previous behavior, where single-clicking selects an item and double-clicking opens that item. The same change seems to be happening in Dolphin. In Configure Desktop | Input Devices | Mouse I have “Double-click to open files and folders ( select icons on first click )” as set.
Well, single-click to open files is the default since years.
And Plasma5 doesn’t migrate the KDE4 settings, so that’s why it switched.

That should work.
But make sure that you are not using KDE4’s “Configure Desktop”, that will have no effect for Plasma5.
Try to run “systemsettings5” explicitly (in KRunner or Konsole).
Thanks ! I was running the KDE4 “Configure Desktop” rather than the Plasma “Configure Desktop”. After changing my mouse setting to having the double-click rather than the single-click opening files and folders, I had to logout and login to have it take effect but now it is working.
