wouldn’t it would reduce the lifespan of that button?

ROTFL!
Probably. The space bar will die sooner, though.
And I press the power button softly. I handle my laptop as glassware…
and even so, my hard disk broke down

My experience is that power buttons are much more fragile then space bars. I have several power buttons broken because the tiny bit of elastic plastic that has to push the button back after pushing it, broke. Not allways easy to repair. But when that is the only thing that is broken ina desktop or a monitor >:)
Quickest way for shutting down KDE would be:
CTRL - ALT - SHIFT - PAGE DOWN (all 4 keys simultaneously)
It will shut it down immediately with no time for remorse.
Also:
Reboot: CTRL - ALT - SHIFT - PAGE UP
Log out: CTRL - ALT - SHIFT - DELETE

Sigh.
I will then use the menu entry, even if it takes more time than using
the touchpad. When I powerdown the laptop I’m usually standing up, not
sitting at it. Using the power button is easier.
To me, laptops looks fragile and flimsy. I type softly, move with loving
care… and even so, the hard disk broke down last January.

I hope that some day SSDs will replace hard disks completely and it will avoid mechanical failures in hard disks ,especially on laptops
Great shortcuts. Thank you very much.
