Silverlight and Olympics

Is there no other way to view Olympic footage than installing
silverlight/moonlight?

Seems to be… use the preview version;

It would seem the answer is “no” - they decided to use the MS technology,
so on Linux, Moonlight would be your option.

Don’t know if this works from abroad: NOS Olympische Spelen 2010 - Kanaal - ned-1

Awesome. Thanks for that.

Heh heh…well yes it is, but if you miss it and don’t record
then you need alternatives. I have seen a couple of interesting
story events recently and they linked to the official site which
was Silverlight only. As I do not wish to perpetuate the latest MS
tech lock in, I avoid these types of sites. So that’s why I asked.

I would just find a torrent, this kind of stuff has got me not giving a **** about copyrights.

The nos.nl stream only works in the Netherlands. In Europe, you could watch eurovisionsports.tv/olympics in flash. Elsewhere, I don’t know. Usually there are a couple of betting companies that show stamp-sized screens.

and, if you wanna see it with Danish talk (or, perhaps the Danes cover
an event not covered by the Dutch), check the schedule here:

http://www.dr.dk/tjenester/programoversigt/

columns one and two are for national programs on DR1 and DR2…

look for “Vinter OL” (Winter Olympics)…
[babble fish can help with text translations…]
all times are as in Copenhagen (central european)

if you see one you wanna watch then go to

DR1 -> http://www.dr.dk/tv/live#/DR1

DR2 -> http://www.dr.dk/tv/live#/DR2

seems to be simple Flash with full screen and volume controls on the
bottom…and works good here…

good luck with understanding the audio :wink:

Fortunately, here in the UK, the BBC provides excellent online coverage. Watch directly or download, I’m only just on day 7, I can’t keep up with it, you’d have to there day and night, total brain munge if you watch too much.

Thanks for that. No worries on the audio.
Every commentator and interview says the same thing. :slight_smile:

Of course, doing so would be illegal and not something we could (or
would) condone here - because doing so would be a violation of the T&C of
the forums. :slight_smile:
