Signal Messenger with a Tray icon?

Hi,

Unfortunately, on Tumbleweed, I can only find Signal Messenger via Flatpak. I am using it, but it’s unfortunate because Signal Beta version which on Debian and Arch is a separate application has a tray icon and I really need a tray icon for the way I use my system. The flatpak version doesn’t offer this because it’s the official build instead of the beta.

Is there any solution here, someone can help me figure out?

Reading the flathub repository documentation for Signal ( GitHub - flathub/org.signal.Signal ) I have seen that you can have a tray icon by launching signal with the SIGNAL_USE_TRAY_ICON=1 environnement variable set.

I have tried and it work, it make a tray icon for the app appear and clicking on it show/hide the app window.

flatpak run --env=SIGNAL_USE_TRAY_ICON=1 org.signal.Signal
