signal desktop messenger doesn't play vocal messages

Hi, on my laptop with KDE neon I’m using signal messenger, Version: 1.39.6-lp152.1.4 installed from https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/im:/signal/openSUSE_Leap_15.2/
when I click on a vocal message the cursor move but the sound isn’t produced.
any suggestion to have signal working with sound?

I have been using Signal as Flatpak wihtout any problems.

You need to collect information directly related to trying to your action.
Recommend…
Open a console like Konsole or whatever is native to the Desktop you’re using, elevate it(recommend su or su - but sudo can also work) run the following command and leave it open.
As long as it’s open, it will display any events written to your system log

journalctl -f

Hopefully, you’ll see some error displayed when you click on your Signal app.
If not, that should tell you that functionality is working as expected but the problem is either something not detectable by your system or some kind of simple User error (like muted).

If you need help understanding whatever output displays, paste it between

 tags in a post.

done, with this result, nothing is displayed:

it’s not related to the post but I found hundreds of this lines:

.....
2021-04-01T13:48:47.307587+02:00 pla4-TW dolphin[23541]: MEGASYNCOVERLAYPLUGIN: Loading plugin ...
..........

have I to do something to avoid these lines?

what is flatpak? can I use it with yast?

That’s pretty telling.
You probably have a plugin that’s not loading properly.
So,
What is this MEGASYNC OVERLAYPLUGIN, what does it do, where did come from (installed by you? Installed with app? Something else? Does it have anything to do with your problem? If it’s not directly related to your problem, could it be blocking?

Also, from your error, are you running the Signal app as root?
Try running as an ordinary User.

TSU

Flatpak is one of several “Universal install” technologies.

The application comes pre-installed with its own components which means it’s less or not dependent on your operating system.
If everything works as expected, it’s a bit bulky but can be a solution when others don’t work.

I don’t know where MEGASYNC OVERLAYPLUGIN come from, how can I get this information?
I installed this megasync things:
dolphin-megasync - Extension for Dolphin megasync - Syncing utility your MEGA Cloud Drivenautilus-megasync - Extension for Nautilusnemo-megasync - Extension for Nemothunar-megasync - Extension for Nautilus
all coming from:

Distribution: home:Dead_Mozay / openSUSE_Leap_15.2
Vendor: obs://build.opensuse.org/home:Dead_Mozay

I installed theese things to have access to my mega cloud drive with dolphin and other file manager but I didn’t succeed until now

I don’t know if it is related to my problem with signal, to stop these lines writing I suppose I have to uninstall all the megasync things

I run signal as user not as root

manythanks and happy easterrotfl!

manythanks, I installed discover and checked the flatpak box but I cannot find signal there, but, if I install with flatpack and discovery, can I find apps that I install in lizard menu??

I found how to install signal from discover flatpak installing flathub repo
I uninstalled signal from yast and installed from discover flatpak
it doesn’t play sound as the previous, following the instructions I did this is from konsole:
but for everything I install from discover flatpak I have to run programs from konsole with lines like this???
flatpak run org.signal.Signal/x86_64/stable???

No, you can invoke with a simpler command.
The Flatpak documentation describing common commands
https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/using-flatpak.html

The GIMP page at flathub.
At the bottom you will find a “run” command which is not perfectly simple but a lot shorter and not complex like what you’re doing.
Of course, assumes is the same Flatpak app, but there is only one listed at Flathub
