Few day ago using KDE menu to shut down computer stopped working.
When I click on Menu and chose Shut Down (or Reboot) everything it does is - monitor dims a bit, it closes running programs and then nothing… it seems like hanging, but I can still normally start new programs and use them.
I click Shut Down couple times it is still the same.
To shut down computer I need to sudo /sbin/poweroff
What can I do to restore it for normal functioning?

Same problem here on this laptop (Dell D630, openSUSE 12.1, KDE 4.7.4) - I
found if I close the lid and let it sit it will eventually power off
completely, but I haven’t noticed how long it takes. Nor have I tried using
sysinit in place of systemd, but if you’re on 11.4 something else(common to
both) must be the cause.
Same issue here (Dell D630). It was working fine last week. Now it hangs at the green screen and will eventually power off after a VERY long time.
It seems to have started after the last batch of patches. I’m going to try to back some of them off.

I don’t know what (and how) happened but it fixed by itself.
Now it powers off - it not as smooth as before, but works.
Maybe it was some update issue…
