I had to create a new profile, deleted the other profile after I copied the files to my new profile, then trashed those duplicate files. PROBLEM: the space used took up almost all of my space on the home drive. How can I shrink the space back on my home drive back to what I had prior to starting the replacement profile? BTW, the trash is gone (Empty). Can Anybody point me to a good utility, that is bullet proof, that is easy to understand and will not empty all my folders to zero folders?
I have used Sweeper, and that was a disaster…

If you created a New User and brought your files over from the old User Profile. Then you deleted the Old User Profile and didn’t opt to keep the Old User files. It shouldn’t take up any more space than before

No, it increase the space being used on the /home directory. It is almost full. I would have thought when I deleted the other corrupted profile that I would have gained my original size back, but it did not. So I have to find some way to shrink this directory back down.
But does the directory for your old profile still exist in the tree?

i think he “deleted” the old by dragging it to the trash can [or,
right click select “Move to trash”], and has not yet “emptied” the trash…
cherock1254, if you are absolutely certain you never want to see the
old again, then: right click on the trash can (probably on your
desktop) and in the pop-up menu, select (something like) “Empty trash”…
this is because the ‘trash can’ HOLDS trash until you empty it, just
in case you decide seconds or weeks later you wish you still had it…
