Show Automatic Package Changes & Repository Dependency

Hi,

I’m new in SLES 11 SP1. I’m trying to understand how “Extras+Show Automatic Package Changes” works in Yast / Software management. Please someone could help me about it?

I’ve read:
“To install packages, select packages for installation and click Accept. Selected packages should have the Install status icon . The package manager automatically checks the dependencies and selects any other required packages (resolution of dependencies). To view other packages required for installation before clicking Accept, choose Extras+Show Automatic Package Changes from the main menu.”

In particular I have following doubts:

How are calculated the packages showed in this list?
How can I see what other(s) package(s) are the reason of the dependency?

I’ve notice that there is a dependency between the repositories enabled and the list of showed packages. Is this normal?
How can I see all these packages dependencies even though if I don’t have included the repositories where these packages can be found?

Thank you in advance

For all things about SLED & SLES, you need to go here: Rancher Labs

Thank You,

Ok, forget about “I’m new in SLES 11 SP1” and let’s say openSUSE 11.x

My questions is about Yast / Software management and how “Extras+Show Automatic Package Changes” works.

"The package manager automatically checks the dependencies and selects any other required packages (resolution of dependencies). To view other packages required for installation before clicking Accept, choose Extras+Show Automatic Package Changes from the main menu. " which was used with SUSE 10.1, though the name is not the same in 12.2 where its just called "Show Package Changes" as I no longer use any openSUSE version below 12.2.

Thank You,
