Should I use Pulse Audio?

Running Suse 11.0 atm. When running a game or anything that uses sound, I get the usual error that the sound device is in use if I try to play music, video or anything else. Linux only likes to use one sound stream at a time. This can be pretty annoying sometimes.

I am a bit leery of using Pulse Audio as people seem to have a lot of problems with it.

Would PA solve my sound problems or make them worse?

What is you’re purpose ?
To get two ore more different sounds at the same time ?

I’m not sure if you should use it or not but I had all kinds of problems getting my sound working correctly until I removed pulse audio.

I doubt things will get worse but it may be challenging to get things to work properly with pulse audio, at least it was turning out that way for me.

I am hoping I don’t have similar problems when I make the move to 11.1 in the near future.

Another problem with only being able to use one sound device. How do I answer SkyPe calls if I’m playing music or a game? It sucks you can only do one thing at a time.

Okay, installed PulseAudio. Followed the perfect setup. So far I can now play two things at once. Now, to get PA to allow me to use it’s tools.
