Should I try to reinstall?

Just installed version 11 x86_64 from a dvd to a new system (MSI NF980-G65 motherboard with Athlon II 4 core cpu). When trying to log on to this site I get a message:

Secure Connection Failed
forums.opensuse.org uses an invalid security certificate
etc. etc.

Same response when trying to log on to msn.com.

Should I start all over?

Would I be better off downloading a newer version?

Thanks, Skippy

PS I hope to be able to use a Samsung ML-1630 printer and a Canon CanoScan 8800F and was having problems with both of them.

Do You have your time and date set up correctly ?

Best regards,
Greg

I don’t think that your system necessarily is broken, not based on those messages at least. I think it is just a security preset in Konqueror which warns you that it , Konqueror, is unsure of the sites ‘security-validity’.

I receive those messages as well, even my net-bank were questioned. I use OS 11.2. If you trust the site, just tick off for ‘allow forever’.

In any case, though, OpenSuSE 11.0 (If that is what you have installed) is a bit old and isn’t supported anymore, i.e. you will not get any (security)updates etc.

Cheers

There is no version 11 of openSUSE. What have you installed exactly?

To get that you would be using “https://forums.opensuse.org/”, and that
site does not work, you would be getting:

403 Forbidden

This site does not support HTTPS. Please try again using HTTP.

PS

I’m on thin ice in regard the cause of the message/warning.
Listen to Greg!

I would not think that’s where the problem is. IMHO Carlos is on the right track. Messages like described appear on https URL’s not on http.

You could first check if your IP is not blacklisted. Here’s a simple script which does that (take the one in this post, because there are two different scripts in that thread): netinfo - Read Network & PC Information into a Local Text File

In answer to the various questions:

Date & time set correctly.
DVD ISO is titled SU1100.001
My IP is not blacklisted.
I did not know that 11.0 was no longer supported.

I am going to try to install openSUSE-11.3-DVD-x86_64iso

I willl post an update later today.

Thanks to all. Skippy
