I’ve been having trouble with this new version of OS 12.3. I guess because of KDE 4.10 digikam keeps crashing, then I installed Shotwell and it can’t fully import my photos. I’ve only used Debian distros because they don’t give me any trouble. I have tried to enjoy using opensuse but it keeps failing.
Does anyone know why Shotwell has trouble importing photos? is it KDE or is it opensuse that is the problem?

Start shotwell from a terminal, see if there are messages there when it
crashes.

I get this:
davek@linux-41yg:~> shotwell
** (shotwell:5385): WARNING **: Error retrieving accessibility bus address: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.a11y.Bus was not provided by any .service files
then it opens and some of the photos were imported but not all of them. I was able to get digikam 3.1 installed, but I still like Shotwell for general use. I like the simplicity of it. In other distros, I plug in my Lumix camera and it just works, with opensuse it partially works.
Every year I give openSuse another try, but it always fails to be as smooth as the Debian family distros. Maybe version 12.4 will be better. I keep trying to like using opensuse but I haven’t had much luck with it so far.
There would be only 3 point releases starting from 12.X hence the next version would be 13.1
Thank you. I’ll come back at another time.

And then you will find some other issue >:-)
You have to stick and fight the issues… maybe it is a bug, and if
nobody finds out and report it, it will never be solved.

Shotwell works as it should on my wife’s laptop, but she uses
exclusively Gnome 3, I do not know if there is a glitch when you have a
full KDE in addition. Here system is an upgraded one since 11.x -> 12.1
-> 12.2 -> 12.3, so I cannot rule out that there may be a problem in a
fresh 12.3 install.
I just wanted to mentioned that not everyone suffers from a shotwell
problem.

shotwell freezes up on me when I have videos in the import stream as well as pictures.
