Trying to get the printer driver installed.
For some reason the configure printers section will not recognise the printer. It did recognise the scanner & the scanner is working but I cannot get it to see the printer.
Any ideas?

Can you tell us which openSUSE version you’re using? (It may be relevant). I’m assuming this is a usb-connected printer, is that correct?
Anyway, what happens if you try configuring via the CUPS web interface? Open up your favourite broswer, and enter
Select ‘Add Printer’, then follow the prompts given.
BTW, if you don’t think your printer is being detected, then examine the output from
dmesg |tail
just after it has been connected to your computer. What is reported?
Latest version 12.1. Connected to usb. I was at that page before but what are the username & password to get in to it. Nothing seems to work.
EDIT: Just found a page to create an account.
You’ll need to supply your root credentials: Enter ‘root’ for username, and root’s password.
**** now I sighed up for something???
Now I get “forbidden”.
I’ll reboot & see how that goes.
Got back in & it selected the right printer. Now do I go & set it up through yast?
EDIT: Got it. Thanks for the help.
You have a choice: Configure via YaST, or use the CUPS http interface instead. I prefer the latter.

Good work. So your able to print ok?
Yep. All is good.
It’s ever so slowly making a bit of sense.
