Using Socks5 and other better Proxies is working great with Proxifier under Windows.
Are there such great tools under or for Linux somewhere?

Setting up SSH to do proxying is trivial…
ssh -D 8080 username@remoteBoxThatIsYours
Once done point your browser to localhost:8080 and I think you should be
golden.

Whou…that was a quick answer. For sure. I don’t like to set up the thing manually. Isn’t there some kind of Proxifier for Linux systems?

Introduction
Proxifier is a program that allows network applications that do not support working through proxy servers operate through a HTTP or SOCKS proxy server or a chain of proxy servers.

I’d still look at openVPN. You’re not really saying what you’re trying
to accomplish so it’s hard to recommend anything specific.

tor, privoxy, and for a gui vidalia ?? you were thinking something along these lines ? although this is more of an anonymity, if you run your own exit node than more is possible with the custom services
tor and privoxy you can find them in the packman repo’ couldnt find vidalia though
No… not TOR. I am looking for a program where I am able to pur in the details of the proxy (password, connection and port).
Mh… looks like I oughta try OpenVPN.
