Setting up SSH Proxys.

Hi there. Any experienced proxy users in here? Goood.

Using Socks5 and other better Proxies is working great with Proxifier
under Windows.
Are there such great tools under or for Linux somewhere?

Setting up SSH to do proxying is trivialā€¦

ssh -D 8080 username@remoteBoxThatIsYours

Once done point your browser to localhost:8080 and I think you should be
golden.

Good luck.

Whouā€¦that was a quick answer. For sure. I donā€™t like to set up the
thing manually. Isnā€™t there some kind of Proxifier for Linux systems?

Cā€™mon!

I have no idea what Proxifier isā€¦ whatā€™s it do? How does it work?
Yes, I could Google that, but Iā€™m only volunteering and am quite a bit
lazyā€¦

Good luck.

Maybe youā€™re thinking of something like openVPN?

Iā€™d still look at openVPN. Youā€™re not really saying what youā€™re trying
to accomplish so itā€™s hard to recommend anything specific.

tor, privoxy, and for a gui vidalia ?? you were thinking something along
these lines ? although this is more of an anonymity, if you run your own
exit node than more is possible with the custom services

tor and privoxy you can find them in the packman repoā€™ couldnt find
vidalia though

ā€˜Tor: anonymity onlineā€™ (http://www.torproject.org/)

ā€˜Privoxy - Home Pageā€™ (http://www.privoxy.org/)

ā€˜Vidalia - Homeā€™ (http://vidalia-project.net/)

Noā€¦ not TOR. I am looking for a program where I am able to pur in the
details of the proxy (password, connection and port).

Mhā€¦ looks like I oughta try OpenVPN.
