This is an old thread, but my experience with this may help someone, so bear with me…
I installed Skype 2.2.0.35 beta from their site - before MS kills it - a few days ago on my wife’s computer.
Everything OK, added the usr.bin.skipe apparmor profile as recommended in opensuse wiki. but the mic didn’t work in skype, although I could use it in other apps.
The solution was to change, in Skype’s Audio options, The “Microphone” selection from “HDA Nvidia, ALC887 Analog (default)” to “HDA Nvidia, ALC887 Analog (hw:0,0)”.
Of course the hardware may be different, but it may be worth playing with these settings. There are other options besides these two.
