Hello All,
it seems everything with SUSE is a challenge for me. I recently moved house and was forced to use T-Home. Ok its a little faster on my husbands Windoze computer but I can not get it to work with OpenSUSE. It worked with Vodafone, all I did was plug it in. Currently I have tried to configure it with a cable and a wireless card and nothing works. Shouldnt I be able to just plug in a lan cable and have connectivity? What am I doing wrong??
Have you tried looking to see if you are getting an ip address from dhcp and that the gateway is set?
Have a look at the results from ifconfig on linux and ipconfig/all on the windows box.
You should be able to ping the router. If ping to an ipaddress works, you don’t have a nameserver set.
(Just talking general network setup, since we don’t have t-home here.)
Thanks for your reply the answer to your question is no. Actually there is no information populated for network information. No gateway, no ip nothing. This is where I said I am not the programer.
You didn’t answer all of my questions >:( We need more info.
Plug in you cable and execute this script. It may detect configuration problems and create some error messages which might help you. If you don’t have success post the result of the script on some free webspace and post its link in this thread.
Opps sorry, I am a real novice at this. Remember I said I think Linux may be too advanced for me.
The only way I have of accessing the internet at the moment is from my iPhone or another computer. I can not access the internet at all from the Linux computer. I should be connected through a DSL modem. I have checked the cable on my laptop and I can connect with no problem. I will try the script. Thanks for your help.

Ok 2 things I notice.
the IP address is there and is correct from what I can see IF I am putting it in the right place.
I tried to configure knetwork manager but it seems to have changed nothing.
For wireless the card is plugged in but shows as a USB memory stick
I didn’t want you to do this. I posted the wrong link. Sorry about this :shame: .
There was also a file called collectNWData.txt created by the script which contains a lot of info about your network setup(See last message of the script). Pls post them on nopaste.com (beta) and then the links to them in this thread.
