setting up a wifi access point or repeater

Hi.

I have a wifi+ethernet router. There are some zones where the wifi signal is too weak so I would like to setup one ehthernet connected computer (Opensuse 13.2 x86_64) as a new acces point or maybe as a repeater.
I’ve plug in a usb wifi card and I’ve tried to setup it with yast, but it seems I can only configure it as a wifi client.
Then I’ve tried to do it with KDE Network manager, I can create a Access Point connection, but once saved it does not work.
I’ve seen there is another option: hostapd, but I would like to ask whicj is the best option
I want the AP to work only when I plug the wifi usb card (only when I need it).

thank you

I believe hostapd is the only option.

You may try to follow the following instructions: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Software_access_point
I installed a bridge using yast. Somehow I had to re-add the default route after that (this seems to be a bug of the yast module).
