I have tried to set up a torguard vpn connection via openvpn and it will not connect. anyone have experience with this? I’ve given it my gateway and certificate info as well as my torguard logon credentials.
Hi selittle. Welcome to openSUSE Forums. Just to clarify - are you trying to setup this VPN connection via Network Manager? If so, you can check the connection process by monitoring Network Manager logging with the following…
sudo journalctl -fu NetworkManager
then try connecting and observe/capture the output. That should reveal where the problem is.
If you are really stuck, you might want to consider using their chat support perhaps…

Recommendation:
If you’re installing for anything in torguard <except> the VPN service, you can instead download, extract and run the Tor Browser Bundle instead. You can’t do bittorrent over the Tor onion network, but you can web browse anonymously, do anomymous email, more.

If you want/need VPN services, then you’ll need a VPN service like that part of Torguard.

So,
What guide are you following?
The following Torguard document for setting up <without> Network Manager looks OK
https://torguard.net/tutorials/pdf/OpenVPN/TorGuard-OpenVPN-Setup-Tutorial.pdf
The following Torguard document for setting up in Network Manager looks somewhat reasonable although to my eye it’s not mentioning essential steps like importing the required certificate.
