Setting group id and mode for memory cards in a mmc device

I am fighting with a problem that I considered annoying already for sometime but never managed to come up with a solution.

When I insert an memory card in the card reader of my notebook, it is mounted (ok, yes, if it is mounted, who decided that in SuSE 11 it is necessary to re-plug the card after re-boot??? This was not like this in SuSE 10.3 and I much preferred the SuSE 10.3 way to deal with it!!!) automatically with the protection:

022 uid root

I wonder who actually came up with the bright idea that every body with access to a machine should be able to see what is on a memory card that somebody happens to plug into a card reader.

Any suggestion who these smart settings could be changed would be very much appreciated.

Just to add it. Yes, I did try to explicitly mount the mmc device with appropriate options specified in /etc/fstab as well as directly specified in the mount command. However, with no change. So for the mmc device mount gets the options from somewhere else. But from where???

I think I understood that hal is responsible for mounting such devices, however, I did not manage to find out how I could configure hal.

I also realized that the same is true all usb devices. I tried to fiddle around with /etc/fstab entry for usbfs. However, with no result.

Regarding the protection mask SuSE 10.3 and SuSE 11.0 seem to agree how it should look like. However, I only can rub my eyes and shake my head why anybody would believe that this is the right protection mask for such devices.

Thank you very much for your help,
