set up issues

I had my wired internet working ok, but now that’s not working for god knows what reason (yes I’m new). I’ve got my D-Link DWL-G120 usb wireless adapter pluged in but it’s not “working”. In the Hardare section it shows all the information for it but it shows it as a unclassified device. Any ideas? At this point I’m thinking of buying a bridge and just reinstalling the OS (plus I want to get a bigger Hard drive as I’ve got it on a 7 GB drive right now). But if I can avoid this that would be swell. So does anyone have an idea?

Ok I went through the post above and here is some more information:
the Kernel Driver for Wireless Lan is p54usb
the person mentions making sure the device is turned on… ok how does one make sure/check if the device is turned on or not?
I have checked the lib/firmware folder and isl3886usb is in there.

Some more info:
IEEE 802.11bg ESSID: “”
Mode: Managed Frequency: 2.412 GHz Access Point: Not Associated
Tx-Power = 0 dBm
Retry Long Limit 7 RTS thr: off Fragment thr: off
Power Management: off
Rest of the items listed are all 0

What is the output of

sudo /usr/sbin/iwlist scan

I have a p54usb device. The driver works.

I just got it working about 20 min ago… not really sure how but all of a sudden it just started working… was finally able to use the manager and voila it works…
