set right display resolution on laptop acer

Hi
I bought this model: Fnac.com : Ordinateur portable, Ordinateur portable, Acer Aspire 5920G-6A4G32Mi 15,4" TFT, Informatique acheter, choisir, comparer en ligne

I installed opensuse 11 with gnome, and the display resolution set is 1024x768. ANd I’d like to have the 1280x800 resolution.
I tried to change with sax2 but the resolution is not available, then i tried to change manually/ect/sysconfig/displaymanager, but it did not word.
So I’d to get some help please.
Thank you.

  • Centaure16,

it has a ATI Radeon HD3650 video chipset: Did you install the ATI drivers? After that, sax2 should be able to pick the correct resolution.

I have a 64 bit os.
I downloaded on ATI site the drivers for my video card and i have a .run File.

What am I supposed to do with it.
I tried to launch it in a terminal as root but it start a gedit window…???
It is ok now i just had to set it as an executable file.

Ok, they are installed and i still can’t choose the right resolution with Sax2…

I tried fedora 9 and it works ;…

Not necessary. Check the Repositories in Yast and enable the ATI repo.
