Anyways here is what happens, and this only happens to me when i run linux. THIS NEVER HAPPENED WHILE RUNNING WINDOWS VISTA OR WINDOWS XP.

First icons will disapear and text will not work, images wont be there, system dock and explorer will just not work, the start menu will have nothing in it, and when i restart it, (manual) it will boot and show me specs and say “NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND” and when i go into BIOS it says IDE0:_______ not the hard drive name and size like it usually does.

Please help. Thank all of you.

i forgot to say eventually it will load it normal with no problems like nothing never happened.

Some weird problem. I’ve installed 11.2 on quite a lot of these 55xx series Acers, never seen this one.
Please post output of the commands below, open a terminal and run them one by one, copy output here

uname -a
hwinfo | grep CPU
cat /etc/fstab
fdisk -l

That will give us some useful info.

Weird, specially the bios not recognizing the drive, which IINM has nothing to do with the operating system. You may consider a bios upgrade - check the manufacturer’s site first to see if this problem is addressed in the bios revision, if any.

No i did not, i started the installation as i have done these things numerous times, i assure you as it has been stated before that this has no effect on booting especially when I have numerous operating systems, and once again this has no effect on BIOS.

But somehow everytime I run linux this happens, never when i run windows.:’(

Have you done a memtest on your RAM? Linux is good at picking up dodgy RAM.

how would i go about doing that?

It’s an option on the CD or DVD at the splash screen. You’ll need several hours to do a thorough test.
