serial touchscreen on opensuse 11.2

Hello all, this is my first message here.

I am having bad time trying to use an old touchscreen (the make could be ‘TouchKit’) on opensuse 11.2.

It is a serial device, connected on the second serial port.

od -h -w10 </dev/ttyS1

shows something coming out from there if I put my finger on the surface, so hardware and cable are probably good.

None of the devices proposed by sax2 matches my touchscreen.

I installed evtouch, then with

sax2 -r

I generated an /etc/X11/xorg.conf and tried to manually modified it as suggested by the author of evtouch here, to no success: if I specify /dev/ttyS1 I get an error message

Unable to grab device

in /var/log/xorg.0.log; if I try with devices in /dev/input/by-path, they are accepted but have nothing to do with the serial.

Any suggestion?

Solved. I contacted the manufacturer, TouchKit, and they addressed me here for recent drivers for this kind of touchscreen. The beta version for kernel 2.6 is working with suse 11.2.
