Seperate X Server - nvidia - openSUSE 11.2

Hi Folks!

Is there a way to create a Seperate X Server on openSUSE 11.2 without editing the xorg.conf file? I red on this forum that should not be used any longer.

I am trying to get this work (it was running great on suse 11.0):
Martin Krischik - World of Warcraft on Linux

I created an xorg.conf

nvidia-xconfig

If I restart everything works just fine. I just can not add these lines:

Section “Screen”
Identifier “WoW[0]”
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection “Display”
Depth 24
Virtual 1920 1200
Modes “1920x1200”
#Modes “1920x1200” “1440x900” “1368x855” “1280x800” “1152x720”
EndSubSection
Device “Device[0]”
Monitor “Monitor[0]”
EndSection

Section “ServerLayout”
Identifier “WoW[all]”
Screen “WoW[0]”
InputDevice “Keyboard[0]” “CoreKeyboard”
InputDevice “Mouse[1]” “CorePointer”
Option “Clone” “off”
Option “Xinerama” “off”
Option “StandbyTime” “10”
Option “SuspendTime” “20”
Option “OffTime” “30”
EndSection

I keep getting the message: “no screens found”

I red the x.org manual and googled the EM too but no success.

Try without an xorg.conf, i.e. remove/rename it and reboot to make sure. I’ve read reports of people running WoW on openSUSE 11.2 with no xorg.conf, just the WoW configs.

Thanks for the reply. It works with wine but sometimes for some reason my FPS drops so bad that the game is hanging.

I would like to start a separate X server for the wow only. I expect a bit FPS boost and stability because of this.
