SELinux OpenSuse 11.2

Hello to everybody I have an issue using SELinux on my Desktop OpenSuse 11.2.

When i enable SELinux with YAST and then reboot the machine After rebooting everything goes ok … but when the X login screen appears and i put my login, KDE or the X-Window manager system shows me a message similar to this:
" Could not start D-BUS … " etc… and a button " Okey " … then I pressed the button and the system goes back to the X Login Again …

Anybody has any idea what is wrong or whats happening ??

Thank you and sorry for my very poor english …hope understand me.

SELinux is tricky and, depending on what options you chose, can lock you out completely. Can you log in to a terminal as root?. press 3 at the boot menu. If you can run yast and try to revers what you did in the SELinux module.

Yast doesnt give me the chance to set up trickies of SELinux so i didnt choose any SEL Policy. Just " Enable " and Restart …

I really thing that SELinux it is very very tricky … but this is weird.

Fortunally i can disable SEL loggin with the console.

But im really want to get this work …

Sorry for my ignorance, but, why do you not use apparmor instead of selinux?

You also might want to checkout AppArmor as an alternative.

Thank you for that link. Very helpful.

VampirD,

Okey, I dont have any problems to use AppArmor.

But, my questions is, if it is the same of SELinux …

Im just looking for some more security, that’s all, if this security comes with AppArmor or SELinux its the same to me.

How do I set up AppArmor ?

Is is an overview

So what kind of security do you want? What threat are you trying to protect against? Are you protecting national secrets or your aunt’s cake recipe?

Both SELinux and Apparmor require some knowledge to implement.
