which reveals that the update does not affect any openSUSE release…

i’m too lazy to look, but i do wonder if the folks running SLES/SLED etc
receive security notifications which only affect openSUSE releases while
joined to forums.novell.com via either nntp or html?

that is, are they also required to click though (on “More”) to see if it
is important to me, or not.

i mean, only a person running both systems needs to have all such
announcements…in which case those few people should be joined to the
security announce stream for BOTH products…rather than sending all
notices to all who use anything with a SUSE in its name…

if that is not technically possible then maybe someone could teach the
“Brainless Posting Bot” how to sort and direct so that the correct set
is addressed…i hear, computers are well suited for such mundane but
repetitive tasks…

the logic is not so complicated that even a mindless bot can’t:

-if enterprise & no opensuse
then send to forums.novell.com

-if opensuse & no enterprise
then send to forums.opensuse.com

-if opensuse and enterprise
then send to forums.opensuse.org and forums.novell.com

maybe too hard to one time code?

The bot is replicating the opensuse-security@opensuse.org mail list, and
incompletely (and with a big delay). To me it would make much more sense to
write here the whole post, or at least more, no “more” button to click. It
is not that useful on nttp.

Yes, I can click. But the mail list gets the announcements complete, no
clicks, the reasoning is the same. They also could click. Why not get the
announcement here complete as well?

As that list carries both announcements types, the forum gets both, too.

both nntp and web readers are required to click “more”…i don’t know
what they are trying to save by not just quoting the entire mail list
posting…they could just drop a few unnecessary winky-blinkys and save
enough bits for many pages of text…

or, just stop reading the mail-list into the forums: anyone who wants to
can join that mail list…

i mean, why cut of 99% of it and then duplicate distribute–often to the
wrong folks.
