Secondary HDD is not detected

Although I am running opensuse 12.1 in virtual box, I created a second HDD that is 32 GB in size on the same SATA controller as the primary one, but it won’t detect in the file manager. How do I get it to appear so I can format it?

Unformatted “disks” do not appear in the file manager. You first format it,
then it may appear. You may have to mount it first.

YaST, partitioner module.

Of course it is not in the file manger. As long as you, the system manager does not do anything with that disk, then you, the end user (end all other users you may have) have nthing to do with it.

You first must make a plan. Decide what to to with that disk space. Partition it in how many partitions. What type of file systems go on those partition(s) and where you want to mount them (make them available to the system and in the end to the users).

Then for executing you plan use:

And when you think that you may need some additional information on th subject: SDB:Basics of partitions, filesystems, mount points - openSUSE
But first
