Second Life not working properly

A few days back I installed Second Life in my suse 11.1 KDE 4.2.3. By installed I mean unzipping the secnd life files in a local folder and running second life by executing the script “secondlife” in that folder.

But, Second Life has not been working properly since I installed it. The second life window keeps blinking constantly. I have to always kill the process for second life.

My system’s graphic card is **Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family **and I can play Second Life in my Vista OS without any problems.

Does anyone has any insight into why is this happening??

Any help will be appreciated…

Oh yes, today I updated the KDE version from 4.2.3 to 4.2.4, but this problem is still there…

I’ve experienced similar problems with World of Warcraft on several ATI cards. Does second life support some explicit command line parameters, like -opengl?

No just shell script “secondlife”. I have not yet gone into debugging the script  But no command line parameters. I am not sure if it is a bug in secondlife Linux version package or there is some problem with the way my graphics card is set up in openSUSE…

if your running any desktop effects while trying to run second life try turning the effects off and see if that don’t help i know i have to turn the effects off to play any kind of 3d games
hope that helps

Yessss, that did the trick. As of now secondlife is working on my system. Thank you buddy
