Search forums verification words illegible

Hi,

Just tried to search the forums and, for the first time, could not read both the …catcha? words. Gave up after three unsuccessful guesses. It’s the second, wavy word that is illegible.

NVIDIA 290.10, a 12 month old Samsung monitor, openSUSE 12.1, don’t need glasses…

Ta.

So if you have created a user name here, as you appear to have done and you log in, which is required, you should not have to enter such nonsense to do a forum search. Here are a couple of search links to try:

Search Forums - openSUSE Forums

openSUSE Search

Thank You,

Notice occasionally, opening different pages in browser tabs as browse around, sometimes appears loose track that am logged in. whether due issues with Firefox or issues here here not sure.

Signing in again seems to fix.

But the forums are also used by people that do not have a login.

In such a case, then you must then pass through the verification process to confirm you are a real person. You get an image like this:

There is an article on the subject you can find here: http://forums.opensuse.org/content/109-require-captcha.html

Thank You,

I know what it is and what it is used for, that is not the point being
made. The problem is that sometimes it is very difficult for a human person
to guess what that word is there.

It seems to me it says “vero: eachbn” but the last “n” could also be “il”.
If I guess wrong, I can try again, but on a different word, on which I will
also have a different doubt. And so again and again. With luck, I will get
a hit after several tries.

It is not a feature I need here, but I have been in this situation on other
sites, so I understand jenspen problem.

Well I agree the use of this image verification sucks. However, your options are:

  1. Always login to the forum before you do a search …
  2. Use the required system verification if you decide to not login to the forum …
  3. Complain about the problem, consider it done …
  4. Don’t use the openSUSE forums, but only if you must …
  5. Move to a different planet where your point of view might be more appreciated, its possible so consider it …
  6. Buy a large pizza and eat the whole thing yourself while pondering the problem, this is my preferred solution …
  7. Get a lobotomy done, then the problem just melts away …
  8. Start using Windows, humm, option 7 seems like a better solution or perhaps the same one?

Other solutions may also exist …

Thank You,
