If you would like to see implemented “search as you type” feature in YaST-Qt software management in 11.3, vote for feature307512.
Strange that this useful feature has not been implemented yet, although YaST -GTK uses it ages :\
I wondered where you were talking about, but looking at your link I come to the conclusion that you mean to have this in YaST Software Management (when using the search package function). And not in YaST in general.
When you want to support your case it would have been better when your title would have matched the issue.
