Hi,
I’ve a FuSi AMILO pi 1505 with built in SD card reader. I’ve just upgraded the kernel and I’m unable to mount sd cards. I’ve also tried with external usb card readers, but I have the same problem.
linux-kpws:~ # uname -a

Any idea?
Thanks,

As this is kernel-related, it may be helpful to tell us which kernel version you’re running.

On other info: in the meantime I tested an other usb mmc card reader as well (trust mini). I’m still unable to mount the sd card, but this device produces another log.

I hope that help…
These are CCID (Chip/Smart Card Interface) devices? I know very little about these, but a bit of googling led me to this
Old Nabble - MuscleCard - iMONO SIM and Smart Card Reader
Smart Card Talk
I note that there is openSUSE packages available which provide a driver for USB CCID support
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=pcsc-ccid&project=security%3Achipcard
The package mentions that “This driver is meant to be used with the PCSC-Lite daemon from the pcsc-lite package”.
You’re going to have to do some reading I think.
Ok. The device I’m using is a multicard reader with SIM support. But the slot for SIM card is empty, I only put an SD card into the appropriate slot.
Anyway, the mentioned suse package is installed.
I have been using this laptop with opensuse for years and I have never had any problem with sd card reader.
What do you think is it worth to try a kernel downgrade?

Did you have it working with openSUSE 11.4 (or earlier)? Maybe there has been some regression with the driver. Have you checked for bug reports on the subject?
So anything on this one? I have the same problem with the integrated memory card reader.
My laptop is Amilo Pa 1510.
opensuse 12.2
uname -a
XXXXXXXXXXX 3.4.11-2.16-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 26 17:05:00 UTC 2012 (259fc87) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
in /var/log/messages this keeps on repeating when sd card is inserted:
7165.824046] mmc0: Timeout waiting for hardware interrupt.
on boot flood it says something about mmc0: unknown controller, you might encounter problems and stuff etc. or something.
In YAST:s hardware information this is said:
Integrated MS/xD Controller
Bus ID: 5
Bus: PCI
Class (spec): Unknown mass storage controller
Class: Mass storage controller
Device Identifier (spec): 69816
Device Identifier: 94512
Device: Integrated MS/xD Controller
Hwcfg Bus: pci
Model: O2 Micro Integrated MS/xD Controller
…
this reader works fine in windows xp but it is recognized as scsi device.

These are your problems. I suggest Bugzilla.
