Scribus

Has anyone else had problems getting Scribus to run on 11.2.
I get:

scribus: error while loading shared libraries: libpng.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

:frowning:

Hello sparkzz,

You need to install libpng3.
You can install it with yast.

Good luck!

Hello,
Thanks for the help.
I installed libpng3 and
Now I have another problem.

scribus: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Anymore help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

Hello again sparkzz,

This time you need to install libstdc++33.

Next time your missing a library just go to Yast->Software Management.
Check both RPM “Provides” and File list.

In this you search for libstdc++.so.5 and you’ll find libstdc++33.

Good luck!

You might want to check if you’re using the correct scribus package for your OS version, as these dependencies should have been taken care of by zipper/yast.

Ok,

I FINALLY got it to work.
The Scribus icon was not coming up in the applications menu,
and evidently it doesn’t load everything when started from
the command line.

I had to go back and install V. 1.3.3.13 and do a hard reboot.

Thanks a lot guys, you are geniuses.

Ken

Yes…thanks for the post, because I’d forgotten to install Scribus on this system :stuck_out_tongue:
