Need a screencapture recording like Kazam but could not install python-gstreamer_10 needed
Also OBS can not recorder.
I prefer recording in small file size.

I’m quite happy with SimpleScreenRecorder. You’ll find it in the main repo.

Hi
If on the GNOME desktop environment, it’s built in, press ctrl+alt+shift+r to start and stop, format of the recording is webm.

I have tried vokoscreen not my choice and the file size are gigabytes? I was used to obs but here good things about kazam.

SimpleScreenRecording needs H264 codec which already is installed ?
Just want mp4 recording.

Yes that works infortunately filesize is very big.
Would love to see Kazam in the repository.

It should be, if you made the multimedia switch to packman. You can choose the video codec in the second screen, however.

AFAIR some codecs are free to encode, but not decode (this may be stale info). Not the case with packman.

Which recorder?

AFAIK all video encoding is one-pass only, although you can set some parameters to increase quality (and thus reduce size) at the expense of CPU usage. If you are capturing your desktop file sizes shouldn’t be large, as there’s very little screen change on each frame.

But if you are capturing normal video (like from youtube or vimeo), perhaps at full screen, the file sizes are considerably larger, although you can always make a 2-pass re-encoding later, say with avidemux3, kdenlive or other.

Problem solved I have now installed the mulimedia codecs. Simplescreenrecorder works fine, also like vokoscreen for fast recording wich I needed.
For smaller size file I had to choose Matroska or H.246 codes mp4 ffmpeg format. And change the resolution 1280x720 works best for me.
When I need more advanced features then I use OBS. Thanks for all comments.

Problem solved.
Installed the Mulimedia codes.
Simplescreenrecorder works now fine.
For smaller size i changed the codec to matroska or h.264 and format to mp4.
Reduced resolution to 1280x720.
For fast screenrecording which I needed it for vokoscreen works best for me.
For more advanced OBS.
