Screen tearing in KDE with nvidia proprietary drivers

I installed opensuse 13.2 KDE today and i am having a problem with screen tearing while playing Minecraft and a few other games on steam. The screen tearing is mostly while moving windows and a line about 1/4 for the way up from the bottom of the screen while playing minecraft. i have read that this is an issue with the propriatary driver from Nvidia. anyone have any thoughts about a way to fix this or if this is an issue that i will have to deal with.

Thank you.

—System specs if needed—

motherboard: ga-990fxa-ud3 rev 4.0 (iommu enabled)
CPU: AMD FX-8350 black edition
Graphics card: EVGA nvidia GTX 770 2GB
RAM: 16GB kingston hyper-x DDR3 1600mhz

I have the same problem…

I migrated to SUSE13.2, 2 days ago, and everything was working fine…

Then i noticed that some previous versions of the Nvidia driver were still installed and i desidedto remove them (using YAST) and reinstall them on my computer (again usung YAST)…
No error messages occurred during installation.

After restart i noticed tearing.

When i change compositing from OpenGL to XRender the tearing stops.

Tearing is detected as well in KDE as in Gnome under OpenGL

GPU: GeForce GTX 760

Nvidia driver version: 340.65
X Server version: 11.0
Server vendor version: 1.16.1 (11601000)
NV-CONTROL version: 1.29

Any suggestions?

No idea really but be very sure you have all the right packages and that they all match versions and match your kernel and they are all the same flavor ie GO3

I’m Sorry! I’m Not Speaking English.

You put in the file “/etc/profild.d/nvidia-tearing.sh”, just like this!

export __GL_YIELD=“USLEEP”

Another different method is use kwin triple buffer

export KWIN_TRIPLE_BUFFER=1

I hope gone tearing by your computer. if you using gnome, this is not need.
