Using 12.1
My screen goes black and I can’t figure out what to do other than power cycle, a mouse-jiggle or keyboard-esc doesn’t work.
If I do a Lock screen, the screen will go black and a mouse-jiggle or a keyboard-esc works fine.
System settings, power, don’t suspend with inactivity.

On no, I think I know where this is going.
I’m using Gnome.
The HW is an old HP-Compaq small form factor desktop machine with integrated graphics.
Installation was tricky because I had to use a USB thumb drive to add the only available graphics driver, otherwise the only installation option was pure command line.
I just downloaded 12.2, will try that., and let you know how it turns out.
I’m not hopeful about the integrated graphics and might have to add a graphics card.

My suggestion is to try a openSUSE LiveCD first and see how it works. With Integrated graphics, what you see is what you get by default. I have a script for creating a LiveCD USB with download links built in:

And, once installed, you can upgrade the Linux kernel where the drivers are located with this script:

Downloaded V12.2 iso, burned a dvd, booted, and “upgraded”.
A few packages didn’t install, I choose ignore and now the system won’t boot, doesn’t even make it past the command line portion of boot.
The plan is to go back to V12.1 and be more careful.

Interesting, I did not verify.
But once the machine is connected to the internet, doesn’t it try to find the repositories at opensuse and install the latest versions?
Anyway, this machine has integrated graphics, no chip-specific drivers available, can’t install a graphics card (no graphics slot), and the baseline graphics driver resolution is low so I can only see the top half of the display.
I’ve lost interest in this box, I’m moving on.
The latest drivers are always included in the latest kernel version, now up to 3.6.2 and worth trying before you give up. As for repositories you get the standard six for the openSUSE version you have installed. It will not make a major change forward and provides mostly security fixes. We always recommended you also add in the Packman one and if you have any hardware issues we have additional things you can do such as upgrading your kernel version. In the end, we are not responsible for the many hardware configurations that exist, but we try the best we can with the information that you have provided. Good luck in what ever you decide to do.
