It could be that your monitor display settings could not be read in properly (ie an EDID issue). This could be due to your monitor itself (buggy or missing EDID), the cable, or a KVM switch. The /var/log/Xorg.0.log file may tell you what the situation is with more clarity. It is a verbose file, so if you want to share it here, the best method is to upload the contents of it to SUSE Paste
and post only the link to it here.
