Screen flickers every 10 seconds.

Hi all, Im new to Linux and have been using Ubuntu, but now i have d/l and burned an ISO for open suse 12.3 64bit.

My desktop Pc is about 5 years old. CPU 2.6 dual core. Ram 4GB graphics nvidia Quantro 290 NVS dual

I am currently running of the live DVD and everything appears to be ok apart from the screen flickering every 10 seconds.

I have tried changing the resolution and refresh rates but no good.

I have found this problem with several distros including Ubuntu 12.04lts & 12 .10 but not 13.04

All suggestion to sort this problem would be much appreciated thanks

I have the feeling you have a hardware problem, nothing software can
change. Try testing with a different display unit, perhaps your TV set
has a plug for computer.

Thanks you are probably correct. Forgot to say I run dual monitors and there is no flickering on my 2nd monitor. I will try to hook up to another main monitor just to be sure. I was considering buying a new monitor so this could be just a little push in the right direction.

Thanks for your help. much appreciated. cheers :good:

Can you exchange them? If the problem migrates, the problem is the
monitor or the cable. Then exchange the cables…

Well, but don’t buy another monitor just for this problem before you
know for sure what the problem is
