Screen Flicker

Hi

version 11.0 was fine.

version 11.1 and 11.2 not sure.

11.3 and now 11.4 problem.

I have an ATI Radeon HD 3870 with a Hanns-G HG216D connected.

All my other OS’s seem fine with the setup, xp, vista, deb, ubuntu, mint, PClos etc etc when I have tried them.

BUT opensuse 11.3 and 11.4 have a very annoying screen flicker/refresh problem.
Gone are the days when SAX was the thing to use.

XP is set at 1024 x 768 x 75Hz.

I cannot get rid of this screen flicker, despite trying to set my settings to match XP.

Can I download alternate drivers?

Is SAX hidden somewhere?

Any help clues or whatever would be appreciated.

One guaranteed cure is to install Ubuntu, but that is shite to look at, so I wont.

sure, see here: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_graphics_cards

nope, it got so old, out of date, and impossible to support that
‘they’ asked for folks to help hacking on it…no one stepped up so it
was dropped (about v .1 or so)…

but, maybe this year’s Google Summer of Fun will begin a SAX3
